Bringing fresh food, hope, and healing — one zip code at a time.

Good Heart Grocery

At Good Heart Grocery, we believe food is medicine — and everyone deserves access. As a new initiative from the Black Heart Association, Good Heart Grocery is a mobile grocery and pharmacy service delivering affordable, nutritious food to the communities that need it most.

Together with BHA’s mobile heart health screenings, we're building health equity block by block — starting in DFW.

THE PROBLEM

  • Over 80 ZIP codes in Dallas County are food deserts

  • Many are also healthcare deserts with high rates of heart disease, diabetes, and early death

  • Families face long distances, high food prices, and limited transportation

  • Lack of access to nutritious food leads to preventable chronic diseases

Color-coded map of Dallas County showing levels of food deserts by zip code, with green indicating not a food desert and shades of yellow, orange, and red indicating increasing severity of food deserts. The legend classifies areas from not a food desert to very high food desert, based on census tract data.
