OUR Free Heart Health Screening services INCLUDE:
Regular blood pressure monitoring aids in lowering the risk of heart attacks, stroke and more.
Blood Pressure Screening
Vital for diagnosing diabetes, A1C screenings assess average blood sugar levels.
Glucose (Blood Sugar) Screening
Commonly known as a Cholesterol panel, it can help identify those at risk of heart disease, heart attack or stroke.
Lipid Panel
Lipoprotein (a) /Genetic Screening
Identifies one's genetic predisposition for suffering heart attack or stroke
Because of its role in the regulation of blood pressure, assessing one's level of kidney function is critical in determining heart health.

HOW IT WORKS
Screenings involve a finger prick and take less than 5 minutes. Participants will receive test results via their portal within seven to ten days. Afterward, a private and confidential review of patient results is conducted.

Halftime for Heart

🗓 January 22, 2025
A powerful evening of sports, education, and heart health.
Our Halftime for Heart event brought together the community in honor of Coach Chris Cheeks—a dedicated mentor and advocate for minority youth. Hosted during the Jackson-Reed vs. Cardoza High School varsity basketball game, attendees enjoyed an energetic halftime basketball challenge, free heart health screenings, and educational resources.
The event supported a scholarship for a graduating Jackson-Reed senior and advanced BHA’s mission to close the heart health gap in underserved communities.
SuperBowl 2025

🗓 February 6–8, 2025
Heart health took center stage during the biggest weekend in sports.
BHA provided free heart screenings during Super Bowl weekend at Le Meridien and Dillard University in New Orleans, reaching hundreds of individuals with life-saving services including blood pressure checks, cholesterol panels, and education around heart disease prevention.
This stop on the Guard Your Heart Tour helped raise awareness and empower attendees to take charge of their health—one screening at a time.

A Weekend of Movement, Motivation, and Mission.
The Black Heart Association joined one of Ohio’s largest fitness weekends to provide free heart screenings and share life-saving health education. With energy-filled classes like the “Pass the Mic” Step Class, Gospel Step, and sessions led by national instructors—including Xtreme Hip Hop creator Phil Weeden—attendees experienced inspiration through movement. BHA was proud to serve hundreds of participants and support heart health awareness during this vibrant weekend of wellness.

Honoring Women. Honoring Lives.
In partnership with Rise by Respectfully Social, BHA hosted its first-ever Arkansas tour stop, honoring the Jordan Sisters and the legacy of their brothers, Edwin and Troy. This free community event welcomed women (and men!) to receive heart health screenings, learn prevention strategies, and take steps toward healing and health equity. Heart of a Woman was a powerful reminder that every life saved is a legacy honored.

Where Culture Meets Care.
As part of the World Natural Hair Show, the Black Heart Association brought health to the center of culture by providing attendees with free heart screenings and resources focused on prevention. This vibrant expo celebrated natural beauty and holistic wellness, and BHA ensured that heart health was part of the conversation—empowering thousands with the tools to protect their hearts and their future.

The Black Heart Association is back at Essence Festival of Culture™, bringing free heart health screenings, education, and resources to thousands of attendees — and this year, we’re doing even more.
In addition to our presence inside the Convention Center, BHA will also be part of the “We Love Us” Community Day on July 5, a special partnership event with Master P, Team Hope Foundation, Operation Restoration, and Essence Communications.

Black Heart Association (BHA) strives to enhance health outcomes in communities of color, focusing on eliminating heart-health disparities through advocacy, education, and empowerment. Founded by a three-time heart attack survivor, BHA emphasizes the significance of heart health screenings and education in preventing heart disease.
